Does humanity get to create? All we’ve ever done is rearrange things. Structures, tools… Even babies are just physical mass absorbed from our environment and pieced together in the shape of a “new” human. Our personalities are pieced together from the people around us during our upbringing, a major influence usually being our parents and siblings, along with impulse responses to environmental stimuli.

Everything we build, we first had to dig up, cut down, pick up or whatever. Nothing is destroyed, nothing is created. What would happen if we broke that rule?

Can we at least get a new idea or concept that isn’t just a new approach to or combination of existing notions? Would we evolve? Would our interaction with the world around us change so dramatically that we could declare ourselves a new species? musing
